ABOUT

Amy Lam is the founding principal of Lamling Group, a performing arts consulting company dedicated to providing artistic and business solutions for cultural institutions that are mission based and financially sustainable. A nonprofit professional with more than three decades of proven success in presenting and producing, Amy is a sought-after leader in the arts field. Throughout her illustrious career as a prominent presenter for most recently The 92nd Street Y, New York (92NY) and the Celebrity Series of Boston, Amy has been widely recognized for her skillful integration of thoughtful artistic curation with sound business strategies, resulting in audience growth and long-term organizational expansion.

At 92NY, Amy served as the chief executive of Tisch Music, one of the most high-profile program centers of the iconic cultural institution in New York City. Upon her arrival during the pandemic, Amy reorganized and diversified the artistic portfolio within Tisch Music, articulated a contemporary vision for the legacy program, and initiated new artistic collaborations and interdisciplinary commissions. Her efforts quickly elevated the profile of the series, reenergized the audience and donor base of the organization while attracting a new generation of concert goers to 92NY.  Amy was credited for not only quickly surpassing the pre-pandemic audience figures within her first season, but also opening doors for new opportunities and positioning Tisch Music for future growth.

Prior to joining 92NY, Amy was the Artistic Director of the Celebrity Series of Boston, one of the largest multi-disciplinary presenters in the US. Under Amy’s direction, the programming palette of the Celebrity Series expanded beyond the world’s finest classical artists to include many new disciplines and aesthetics such as jazz and contemporary music, dance, speakers, theater and interdisciplinary productions.  When Amy stepped down from her position in 2021, the Celebrity Series established the Amy Lam Fund for Creative Performance to honor her legacy in expanding cross-genre programming and ongoing creative initiatives.

Through Lamling Group, Amy has played a pivotal role in providing tailored strategies for a wide range of clients – from large cultural organizations to small presenting series, and from acclaimed academic institutions and music schools to individual artists and ensembles.  Notable accomplishments of her consultancy include serving as guest curator for the American Dance Platform at the Joyce Theater in New York, artistic and business consultant for the inaugural season of Shalin Liu Performance Center at Rockport Music, producer for New England Conservatory’s 150th anniversary year, and strategic plan consultant for Boston University Tanglewood Institute, among others.

Beyond her professional roles, Amy is an active and respected leader within the field.  Currently, she serves on the board of Association of Performing Arts Professionals (APAP) and the Recommendation Board for Lincoln Center’s Avery Fisher Artist Program.  She is a frequent speaker at conferences and universities, and is a sought-after mentor and advisor for established programs such as the Young Performers Career Advancement Program (YPCA) as well as for many emerging artists and arts executives.

Amy holds an MBA in Arts Administration from Binghamton University of New York, and graduated from the Chinese University of Hong Kong with a BA in Music. She currently resides in New York City and Boston.
